Lu Song (b. 1982, Beijing & lives and works in Beijing) paints from photographs he has taken of natural sceneries. Chinese artist Lu Song once said, ‘a painting should not be representing the reality, but instead altering the dimensions of it.’

Combining his feverish love for nature and inspirations from movies, literature and personal encounters, Lu paints imaginary scenarios that celebrate the peaceful synthesis of trees, leaves, blooming flowers and glimpses of jungle foliage on large-scale canvases. Instead of revolving around an overpowering focal point, this commission work is filled with different shades of green and rich layers of texture. The tension between abstract and figurative fictional wilderness brings alive every inch of the painting, sparking the inner child of every viewer to search for natural wonders.

Though not always on our minds,

The soft rustle in the trees, the gentle caress of a breeze,

tell us you, the giver of life,

are right there, and have always been.

As our destinies intertwine,

we appreciate life under a different light.

Amid the ebb and flow of life,

the mountains loom in my mind.

We wander through the undulating hills,

our innate connection stays still.

All because of you, the source of life.

Yet the closer we get, the more we wonder

If your beck and call will guide us to divine clarity?
